CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS;
NARRATOR: Female, (Soprano Low F# to High G) The narrator is our guide through the story. We are looking for someone who can tell a good story through song as well as being an excellent singer. Must be able to both stand out and blend in during the scenes.

JOSEPH: Male, (Tenor Vocal Range Low A to High G). Jacob’s favorite son. Looking for a strong actor with a confident but charming personality. Must move and sing very well.

PHARAOH: Male, (Baritone, Low B to High G#). Pharaoh is the most powerful man in Egypt, and considered a god on earth. His songs are usually sung as an homage to Elvis. Not required to be an exact imitation.

JACOB/POTIPHAR: Male (Baritone, Looking to cast older) Jacob is the father of the brothers and especially Joseph. Must be a strong actor and singer as the part will ideally be both Jacob and Potiphar.

JOSEPH’S BROTHERS: (Various vocal ranges and ages; males and females will be considered) Joseph’s brothers who are very jealous of him being their father’s favorite son. Looking for a good grouping of performers who can act, sing and dance/move. The Brothers’ solos will be determined not by character role but by vocal audition. (i.e. Reuben will not necessarily sing “One more angel”) Featured roles may come from the brothers.

MRS. POTIPHAR: Female, Strong Dancer. Will also be a part of female ensemble.

FEMALE ENSEMBLE: Will play multiple roles throughout the show including wives to Jacob and his sons and citizens of Egypt. They sing and dance throughout the entire show. Looking for energetic singers who move well. Featured roles and solos will come from the ensemble.

CHILDRENS’ CHORUS: Male and Female – (Ages 8+) – sing and dance along with main characters throughout the show.

There are a few solo roles and various other parts (i.e. baker/butler) who will be determined during casting or later
