Due to a “perfect storm” of unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel the scheduled spring performances of Pirates of Penzance.
However, we are very pleased to announce that in its place, we will be performing Jason Robert Brown’s Drama Desk winning musical, The Last Five YearsNamed one of TIME Magazine’s ten best shows in 2001, this modern musical ingeniously chronicles the five-year life of a marriage  The show enjoyed a revival run in 2013, and a film adaptation was released in 2014 starring the very popular Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan.
An emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years, the show’s unconventional structure consists of Cathy, the woman, telling her story backwards while Jamie, the man, tells his story chronologically; the two characters only meet once, at their wedding in the middle of the show.
For those of you who have enjoyed our recent production of GODSPELL, you will be pleased to see vocal powerhouse Vanessa Turchi (“Bless the Lord”) playing the role of Cathy and multi-talented Matt Clark (Assistant Director) in the role of Jamie.  The rest of the production staff is also made up of those who helped bring GODSPELL to life:  Zach Workman (“Learn Your Lessons Well”) as Director – Sue Scott (Producer) producing again – Danielle Lachall (“By My Side”) as assistant director – Emily Sturz (lights and sound) as Stage Manager.  This show is in good hands!
The Last Five Years will open Friday, May 19th for a three show weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun matinee); then after allowing our patrons to enjoy a Memorial Day weekend at the shore/mountains, we’ll return June 2nd for two more weekends, running through June 11th.
